 HUMITAS 

Peru is one of the countries with the best and largest gastronomy in the world, its meals from the coast, mountain range and jungle are unique and delicious, and they have a very peculiar way of preparing them. In this opportunity, I´ll mention about Humita and its varieties in Latin America:

In Peru, it’s known as Humita, it’s a paste made of corn, seasoned with spices from the Peruvian jungle, wrapped with the leaves of corn on the cob, finally cooked or roasted.

In Bolivia, it’s known as Humintas, they are prepared with corn dough, butter, salt, basil and goat cheese, they are wrapped, tied in the center as well as in the shape of a triangle, baked, grilled or steamed.

In Chile, they’re made by grinding the grains of fresh corn together with chopped onion fried in butter and basil, sometimes, in the same way, green chili is added until obtaining a dough. The dough is wrapped in corn leaves being tied in a similar way to its neighboring countries. Finally they are cooked in salted water.

In Ecuador, in some places, it’s also called Choclotanda and Chumal, its preparation is fresh ground corn with onion, egg, milk, lard and spices that vary according to the region or according to the tradition of each family.

In Venezuela, it’s known as Hallaquita, a pre-cooked corn dough wrapped in corn or banana leaves, which is sometimes mixed with pork or beef.

In Brazil, it’s known as Pamonha, a pasta made with fresh corn, wrapped in leaves. It is similar to a sweet humita, and is very popular in Brazilian cuisine.

MY EATING HABITS

Hi, I'm Stephanie, I'm from Peru. For breakfast, I always eat  yogurt with cereal, it's a practical meal in the mornings. For lunch, In my house usually prepare stew or grilled chicken, with their salad and lemonade soft drink. For dinner, I go back to eating my yogurt with cereal, I really love it, and sometimes I make ham and cheese sandwich. In some occasions, with my sister prepare lots of tequeños at night and we eat with my whole family. Or we can also order delivery of chocolate cake or cookie cake, we are the happiest when our mommy consents us.
